So I was hopping around Twitter, just absentmindedly reading tweets because it's Saturday afternoon and I'm bored. You'll never believe who I found.
Oh, just a certain 5 MDBC girls. They just joined today, it looks like. I hope they're okay with me giving out their usernames, just in case y'all want to follow them, too.
@EmsJHawthorne
@JessGoatGirl
@CassidySloane
@Megan_Rose_Wong
@BeccaLChadwick
Okay, so I know it's not actually them...but the fact that someone created Twitter accounts for the 5 MDBC girls is pretty cool. xD

If I Were...
After yesterday's serious post, we need something lighthearted. Agreed? Well last night, July posted this fun thing on her blog, and it's my turn to fill it out! :)
If I were a gemstone, I'd be an aquamarine (it's just so pretty!) or my birthstone, the ruby
If I were a
scent, I'd be cinnamon rolls or one of my favorite B&BW fragrances
If I were a pair of
shoes, I'd be some Christian Louboutins or one of my pairs of black boots
If I were the
weather, I'd be spring-like: warm and temperate but with still a soft breeze
If I were a facial
expression, I'd be a soft smile shared between best friends, parent and child, or a couple
If I were a car, I'd be a Ford Focus, I guess, lol
If I were a time of
day, I'd be 2 AM (pssh, that's not because it seems to be Taylor Swift's favorite time of day...)
If I were a
month, I'd be May
If I were a
place, I'd be Paris or London
If I were a
liquid, I'd be cherry Coke
If I were a
taste, I'd be sweet with a little kick (kind of like sour gummy worms)
If I were a sea
animal, I'd be a dolphin or a sea turtle
If I were a food, I'd
be a bagel...or cinnamo rolls
If I were a
colour, I'd be a vibrant teal
If I were a musical
instrument, I'd be...hmm, I'm not sure!
If I were a
flower, I'd be a lilac
If I were a song,
I'd be "Begin Again" by Taylor Swift. Or any Taylor Swift songs, for that matter.
If I were a planet,
I'd be, um...Venus?
If I were an
object, I'd be a book.
If I were a fruit,
I'd be a peach.
If I were a
sound, I'd be a cat's meow.
If I were a day of the
week, I'd be Friday or Saturday.
Now it's your turn! Sound off in the comments or on your own blog. :)

Let's Get Serious
I have a feeling I'm going to have fun blogging today. Why? Because I'm going to discuss politics and religion. I urge you to read this, even if you disagree with my views. It's important that, although we as youth cannot vote, our voices are heard! Because, guess what? All the problems that exist in our country today? We'll be inheriting them in a few years when we become adults. I'm already a bit worried about where America is headed. I almost wish y'all could actually hear me saying this all because I apparently get this certain tone of voice when I'm discussing politics and religion, and my friends think it's kind of interesting, lol.
So let's start with the attack on the U.S. embassy in Libya. Guess what? We were lied to about it all pretty much. The Obama administration knew within 24 hours that the attack, which killed our ambassador and three other Americans, was a terrorist attack. Yet, they've been standing by the reason that it was due to a a trailer for an anti-Muslim film on YouTube. And guess what else? One of the attackers was pinpointed, and nothing has been done to apprehend him. Oh, but there's more! There are now allegations that this knowledge was all covered-up because of the upcoming elections. Seems the current administration wants President Obama to seem innocent and perfect when his position as commander-in-chief is clearly in trouble. I'm still not done, unfortunately. I wish it ended there. It doesn't. The morning after the attack in Libya, Obama did not attend any of the intelligence meetings. Instead, he was on a plane to Las Vegas for fundraising with J.Z. and Beyonce. He's also called all the trouble in the Middle East "bumps in the road". Um, people were killed. I guess any death is a bump in the road, then? Including abortion? (Okay, I'll stay off abortion, because I could go on for hours about that topic and that's not what I was planning to talk about today.)
Hmm, what else? Oh, yes. So last week President Obama turned down a meeting with the Israeli PM, Benjamin Netanyahu. He said there was a scheduling conflict. Okay, so I get that. I mean, there's so many other important things to deal with right now! The bad economy, the Middle East turned practically upside down, gasoline prices rising....oh, wait, what's that? Those very important issues aren't what prevented our president from meeting with Prime Minister Netanyahu? He was appearing on The View instead?! Good gravy. Apparently the upcoming election is more important than the fragile relationship with the U.S.'s most important ally. By appearing on The View, the Obamas are trying to regain the women vote that they're losing from the last election. But still! Israel is teetering on "the precipice of annihilation each and every day". [Quote from http://politichicks.tv/column/rome-is-burning-obama-fiddles-at-the-view/] I've never really been a big fan of presidential candidates or the current president appearing on talk shows. My feeling is they're just trying to win support. I'd rather see debates during election season and let former presidents and VPs visit talk shows. Our leader is supposed to be the commander-in-chief, not an entertainer. President Obama even skipped a luncheon with world leaders. It was the first time in twenty years that a U.S. president has skipped such an event. That's pretty shameful.
Finally, Donald Trump was asked to speak at a Christian college on Monday. He told the students that Jesus would want them to "get even" (in other words, exact revenge on their enemies). His rep was later quoted as saying "that the Bible is filled with stories of God getting even with his enemies, Jesus got even with the Pharisees and Christians believe that Jesus even got even with Satan by rising from the dead." Hahahahaha-NO. God and Jesus never got even. God dealt out punishments to those who disobeyed his commands. Jesus didn't "get even" with Satan when he rose from the dead. He triumphed over death. There is a big difference. God has never needed to exact revenge on Satan. And Christ didn't preach revenge; he preached the exact opposite. Consider Matthew 5:38-39: "You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.' But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.' Now contemplate Romans 12:17: "Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all." And Romans 12:20-21: "To the contrary, 'if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.' Do not overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."
So that's my political and religious post for the day. I hope it really gives you all a lot to think about. And if you want to be involved, write to your representatives in Congress and your senators! Let your voice be heard! If enough of us send them letters, those in Washington just realize the youth need to be represented and given a better future.

My Vacation!
So right now I'm on a lovely vacation in Door County, WI. We're at a great hotel in Sturgeon Bay, and we've gone a lot of places on the peninsula. We got here Saturday and explored the town (it's changed a bit since we were last here, like, 7 years ago). We had dinner at a great restaurant, and I got this amazing salmon that came with this INCREDIBLE seasoned rice. Then yesterday we went over to Washington Island where one of my besties vacations every summer (hi, Alisa!). We went to the Danish Mill (a bakery) on her recommendation. They have some great baked goods there. We drove around the island, and saw where Alisa's family's cabin is, and went up in a lookout tower (lots of stairs, great view), and then took the ferry back. We went to a few of the towns on the way back to Sturgeon Bay, and we went to a restaurant in Fish Creek for dinner. I'm going to rave about the restaurant, so if you're not interested, skim ahead. xD It's called the Cookery. The architecture of the building is very pretty on the outside, and I loved the decor on the inside. I got walleye, and it was a little spicy, but I'm kind of sensitive to things being spicy. xD It came garnished with lime slices so I used that to even out the heat. It came with a baked red potato, which tasted fabulous. (If you skimmed, this is where you should start reading again.) Today, my parents went to a county park and hiked for a couple hours. I stayed back at the hotel because I'm fighting a cold, and I wasn't feeling too well this morning. So I worked on homework (I have a lot from my co-op, bluck :P) and watched Once Upon a Time (my new show addiction). This afternoon, just as it started to rain, we went shopping. Most of the stores were pretty boring to me, but we went to this pet shop (it didn't have any actual pets for sale), and I got an awesome travel mug for my tea to take to co-op. We chatted with the store owner while she rang up our purchase, and she asked if I had any pets. I told her about Sunny, and then I told her about volunteering at the animal shelter. She generously gave me a free bag of cat treats to take to the kitties there! :) That was so nice of her, and I really appreciated it. I always love having new, special things for the cats there. Well, that's all...except some pictures! :)
Sunset on Sturgeon Bay.
View of Washington Island from the ferry.
View from the lookout tower on the island.
View down the stairs from the top of the hill at the lookout tower (sorry that it's sideways :P).
Rainy view from my car window at one of the antique stores we had to visit for my dad. I love the raindrops and storm clouds.

Design Girl
Right now red is my favorite color. Why you ask? It's the title of Taylor Swift's upcoming album and her current favorite color. And it and black inspired a design I created. I want to share this design, but I'm on my iPad, and it won't let me upload the picture. So look for this post to be updated later tonight!
And yes, I used Instagram, lol.
(The words on the design say "Back to Black", "Girl of the 40s", and then I pointed out that the bow ties the sash in the back.)

Real Life Fashion
So I decided to show y'all a random outfit I put together.
Jacket=Target, a few years back
Camisole=Aeropostale
Skirt=H&M
Necklace=birthday gift from a friend, but it's from Charming Charlie's, if I'm remembering correctly. (Hannah, if you're reading this, let me know if I'm correct or not. ;))
So, yeah, that's something I'd wear to church or maybe to co-op if we didn't have to wear polos, and skirts didn't have to be to the knee or longer. :P
Okay, so here's a list of the pieces I used.Jacket=Target, a few years back

Random Question
Here's a totally random question for y'all to answer.
If you had transformed the major Greek gods and goddesses into normal high school students and wiped all but a few minds of their real identities, who would you leave with memories of being a Greek god? (Of the ones listed below.) You can choose up to three.
Zeus
Hera
Poseidon
Hades
Athena

Bored Emma=New Contest!
So in my boredom on this lovely Labor Day, I have come up with a new contest idea. I will post a yet-to-be-determined amount of trivia questions. You need to e-mail your answers to me (usual e-mail address, but I'll post it at the bottom of the post for your benefit), and I ask that you don't look up the answers (so we're running on an honor system here). The person who has the most right will get to do a guest blog post! If we have a tie for first between two people, they'll both get to blog. If there's more than one, then it'll go to the person who sent their answers in first. The contest runs through September 8, at 1 PM Eastern Time. As for spelling, if I can tell what you meant, then it will be accepted. ;)
