Misleading Titles

**Note: This post is all in good fun.  I realize most of these titles mean something different and/or are metaphorical.**

How to Meet Boys (by Catherine Clark)
Contrary to what I first thought, this book did not teach me how to meet boys.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
Those games weren't about hunger, being hungry, or food at all.

Prisoner of Night and Fog by Anne Blankman
Gretchen was not the prisoner of night or fog.  I want a refund.

Shatter Me, Unravel Me, and Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi
The main character, Juliette, wasn't shattered, unraveled, or set on fire.  I was quite disappointed.

The Art of Lainey by Paula Stokes
I went into this book, expecting it to be about an artist named Lainey and all her artwork.  That girl didn't even draw.  She played soccer and worked at a coffee shop.

So what are some so-called misleading titles you think should've made this post?

  1. haha love it. There's a book called The Summer I Found You that definitely does not take place during the summer. The main character is going to school the whole time. Fail. Lol

  2. Hehe, great post ^_^
I myself was very misled by the title "What Happened to Goodbye" by Sarah Dessen. Contrary to any sane person's expectations, it didn't tell readers what happened to a person named Goodbye. *dramatic sigh* The audacity of some authors! :P

  3. I love this post, this is really cute :)
In the book called Exile, I thought it was about someone who gets exiled. And yet nobody got exiled.

    That was very disappointing...

Someone should write a book about someone getting exiled.

  4. Haha. Great idea, Emma. This is really fun.
How about the Hero's Guides by Christopher Daly? I've read all three, but I still don't know how to Save My Kingdom, Storm the Castle, or Be an Outlaw.
Also, in Precisely Terminated, while plenty of people get terminated, it's rarely very precise.
