Rewind & Review #9

Good things are happening on the college front!  The girl I met while touring Asbury last spring (and who is currently a freshman there) asked me if I would want to room with her.  I also found out I'm getting a higher academic scholarship, which will help a bit.  Now we're just waiting to hear back to see if they can give me the rest of the financial aid I need.  Asbury is my top choice, and it would be amazing if I end up there.
On the book front, I found out my local indie may be hosting four authors in late April for a panel, Q&A, and signing.  Nothing is definite yet, so I can't say anything more than that, but I think it will be fun to go.
And on the writing front, I'm sad to say I didn't finish my Once Upon a Time season 3b fanfiction before the show returned, but I'm very close to end.  This means choices they make hopefully won't influence my writing too much (besides including Oz, the Wicked Witch, and Rapunzel and some things they set up at the end of season 3a).  I've also been working on another WIP and I realized something big this week about the protagonist, which made me very excited.  It's going to be fun to use that as I write.

And then I took this picture on Friday:

(If you couldn't tell, I'm very excited for Dorothy Must Die.)

(Thanks to Edelweiss and Simon Pulse!  I was actually approved for these last Thursday and had no idea, but I'm super stoked.  I've been dying to read Pulled Under since I learned about it.)

The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski
Independent Study by Joelle Charbonneau (reread)
The Unbearable Book Club for Unsinkable Girls by Julie Schumacher (DNF)

I definitely read a lot more books this week, but I don't like seeing so many DNFs.

Perry's Recommendation of the Week
So this week I decided my stuffed Perry the Platypus is like my version of Epic Reads' Snarkles the Hedgehog. Y'all probably think I'm crazy, but I don't care. So every week, Perry is going to recommend a book that he absolutely loved in the past 7 days.  That means he won't have a recommendation some weeks.  But this week, we have one. :)

Here's Perry reading THE WINNER'S CURSE by Marie Rutkoski!  We both loved Kestrel, especially in the last chapter, and the world Marie created.  Jess was a great best friend, and Bite and Sting is the coolest game ever. (And yes, I got that all from the sound he makes.)

  1. That's great about the college stuff! I'm glad things seem to be working out there, and I hope you can make it to Asbury! And cool about the book signings!

Will you be doing a review of Dangerous, out of curiosity?

    1. I don't think I'll have time to or room in the review schedule, but I'll probably put a short summary of my thoughts on Goodreads.

  3. A couple months ago, I finally started receiving Edelweiss emails. I had before somewhat, but when I went back and checked, I saw I was approved for at least 2 books and they were then expired. I was shocked! But EEEEP your haul looks amazing! (and I'm very interested with this character in your WIP)

    1. I've received emails for a ton of rejections, and I received one when I was approved for The Geography of You and Me and Prisoner of Night and Fog, but not for these two...

Thank you! And I'm very interested in her, too. :) I think her journey is going to be quite fun.
