Waiting on Wednesday #2

Hosted by Breaking the Spine.

This is very much a spur-of-the-moment post, but I wanted to highlight a book I'm highly anticipating that just had its cover reveal.

Ready?

Mortal Heart by Robin LaFevers
Summary: Annith has watched her gifted sisters at the convent come and go, carrying out their dark dealings in the name of St. Mortain, patiently awaiting her own turn to serve Death. But her worst fears are realized when she discovers she is being groomed by the abbess as a Seeress, to be forever sequestered in the rock and stone womb of the convent. Feeling sorely betrayed, Annith decides to strike out on her own.

She has spent her whole life training to be an assassin. Just because the convent has changed its mind doesn't mean she has...

Why I'm excited for this book: I'd heard about Grave Mercy on several blogs for quite some time (I know Shae used it for many Top Ten Tuesdays), but I guess it never appealed to me until Shae talked about it more in detail.  My worries that I wouldn't like the series were all for naught because I then devoured Grave Mercy and Dark Triumph and began eagerly awaiting Mortal Heart. (And Shae gets to be all smug and say "I told you so" now.)  So the fact that it now has a cover and there are ARCs starting to make their way into the wild...well, I'm very ecstatic.  November 4th is crazy far away, but I'll just have to sit tight and either wish for an ARC or a time machine.

  1. YES! I'm so excited for this. I loved the first two books to bits, so I can't wait for this one. The wait is most definitely going to be long and painful.
    Great pick!

  2. What is Grave Mercy about, exactly? The cover looked intriguing, as does the cover of Mortal Heart, but I'd never heard of either until I saw you mention them on your blog.

    1. Female assassins! Some parts of the series are iffy (the girls are all fathered by Death, and they train at a convent that worships him), but they're all strong heroines - smart, beautiful, well-trained, and downright awesome.

    2. Ooh, cool! I'm not sure about the whole Death-worshipping thing, but I'll put them on my list of books to look into!

  4. I REALLY enjoyed Grave Mercy, but Dark Triumph still sits on my shelf. I love the cover for the third book, though, and can't wait for the opportunity to read it!
