The Life and (Medieval) Times of Kit Sweetly by Jamie Pacton
Grade: C

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: Jamie Pacton's debut novel packs a punch. It has relatable, empathetic characters and a cool premise.
However, the prose has a tendency to slip into too much Internet slang at times like "smh," which will almost definitely date the book. I also found the writing style to not be my thing, and I didn't connect with any of the characters. Which is disappointing, because this book had so much promise.
The Verdict: Perhaps another victim of quarantine reading, but it has promise and might be better for you than me.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: Unfortunately, I have a low tolerance for slower books right now. (Unless they're rereads of old favorites.) From the beginning of The Henna Wars, I didn't feel invested in the characters and their journey, which is such a pity because it's always nice to read about South Asian characters, especially when the book is set somewhere other than the U.S.
The Verdict: Just because this book wasn't for me doesn't mean others won't enjoy it.
Will I be adding these books to my library?: Probably not.
