Writing Prompt #1

I haven't talked about writing on my blog in the last year as much as I would like to, so that got me thinking. What can I do to involve writing more? I found this 30-day writing challenge thing on Pinterest or Tumblr awhile ago. According to the image I pasted in a word document, it was produced by shestandsattheedge.tumblr.com, rippedfishnets.tumblr.com, and hipposwearingjackets.tumblr.com. I can't vouch for the appropriateness of their Tumblrs, but I wanted to give credit where credit is due. So anyways, here's the first day's prompt. I'll post what I wrote below, too, and feel free to do this prompt yourselves! I love to find other writers and share what we've written. Also, I'm going to try and share these a couple times a month.

Day #1: Put your music player on shuffle. Write at least 250 words inspired by the first and last lines of the next song that plays.

My song? "One Day More"
(Since the first and last lines are literally the same, I'm taking the second and last lines which are... "Another day, another destiny" and "One day more.")

The war is over. They’ve all returned to their respective homes for the most part. Tristan has crashed on Aviana’s couch, and Namir and Samantha are in the guest room. Samantha is a permanent addition to the Finch household, and Namir and Tristan are reluctant to leave just yet.
Aviana has been looking forward to a night of uninterrupted sleep for months. She doesn’t remember the last time she didn’t have to keep watch half the night, or she wasn’t woken at 2 a.m. for some reason. She passes out almost as soon as her head hits the pillow. Her bed is familiar, even after so many years away.
Tristan, on the other hand, is still wide awake. The Finches’ couch is quite comfortable, but he hasn’t slept well in years, not since his time in captivity. He knows he’s safe now, he does, but that doesn’t make one bit of a difference.
So he’s the first one to hear Aviana’s phone trill at 1:58 in the morning, even though it’s on her bedside table upstairs. He immediately launches to his feet and tiptoes over to the foot of the staircase. He stares up into the darkness and waits to hear if she stirs.
Her door creaks open a minute later. Aviana emerges, holding her phone and rubbing sleep out of her eyes. She spots Tristan, and a tiny smile tugs at the corners of her mouth. Her slippers tap against the stairs as she pads down. They sit on the bottom step together.
“There’s a situation in Istanbul. Director Carter asked if we’d be willing to help,” Aviana explains. She sighs and leans her head against the banister. “Another day, another destiny.”
“How long will the situation take?” he asks. “If we help, I mean.”
She shrugs. “Twenty-four hours? It’s nothing major, but they need college students, and we’re apparently the best they have. I think she was trying to butter me up.”
“Do you think we should do it?”
“I don’t know, maybe. It would mean more money, and something else we could bring up if we ever need to call in a favor.” They’re quiet for a minute. “I’m in, if you are.”
“Let’s do it.” Tristan reaches out and takes her hand. “Just one day more until we can have normality again.”

What song ended up prompting your story piece?
